I have been driving for so many years and the limo industry has changed so much and keep on changing. The change is good for big companies and corporations but bad for the drivers. The competition is so tough that the drivers are forced to do the trips at a very low price. The car payments are high. The insurance has gone up with in the last couple of years. There are so many TLC cars on the road. I usually work 6 days and about 12 hours a day. This does not count the 1 hours travel time back and forth to and from Manhattan. After working so many hours there are days when i cant pay my bills ontime. I use my credit cards to pay the car payment and insurance and during the busy season i pay them off if I get lucky. This has been going on for years.
So far over the years gas and insurance has gone up but the fare price in New York City has gone down. Thanks to UBER, they really screwed the Taxi and Limo industry. The question is why the companies such as UBER and LYFT are making billions and drivers are making lesser money and living a stressful life. Drivers are the main engine to these companies but what can we do to make the change. I am reaching out to many others like me to think of a solution to this problem.
