A private hire limo driver is fighting for his life in Glasgow, United Kingdom on monday 20th, 2015.
The 54-year-old victim believed to have picked up three people in his private-hire car in Glasgow’s East End on Monday night.
However, when he dropped the two men and a woman off in Bellshill , Lanarkshire, he was set upon.
Police said the incident took place at around 9.30pm in a car park near the Carousel Bar – around 10 miles from where the driver picked up the hire.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 9.30pm on Monday, a 54-year-old man sustained serious injuries during a disturbance on Hamilton Road, Bellshill.
“He was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
A similar incident was recorded on July 5, 2015 when cabbie Muhammad Naeem dropped the passenger to his destination and asked for the fare. He went into his friend’s flat to borrow the £8.50 fare but when the passenger returned empty-handed an argument broke out.
Mr Naeem, who previously made local headlines after returning £1,000 cash which had been left in his cab, picked up the passenger outside a McDonald’s.
The cabbie Muhammad Naeem recorded the incident on his mobile phone.
He said: “This is the worst attack I’ve had in my life. But if I don’t go back to work how can I earn any money?
“Mentally, I don’t feel secure and that’s not just for me but for other taxi drivers. I’m an honest man and I want to go back to work without racism and violence.I have no other choice but to go back to work and earn a living for my family.”
