Why is the New York police department very aggressive to all TLC drivers? They do a lot of bad things that are not fair. My story start on Friday April 24 at 3pm in front Intercontinental Hotel on 300 west 44th street in New York. I went there at 3pm to pick up a customer and the pickup was at 3.15pm. I try to find a parking place as close as possible in front of the hotel. I found a space close to the main entrance and other TLC cars were parked there also. After 5 minutes the car in front of me moved out and I thanked God for giving me a better parking space. As soon as I pull up the hotel doorman came to me and spoke to me in a very rude way which I can’t explain. Doorman asked me to move back ‘’go back go back’’ doorman shouts. I told him, my pick up is in less than 10 minutes so let me stay and I will be out soon.
After few minutes I saw the doorman walking towards me with a police officer. Right away I know that police officer is going to abuse his power. The police officer did not say a word and start issuing summons. I told the officer that i have to pick up my passenger from here. The police officer did not hear a word I said and gave me 3 summons, total of $345 and walked away. The doorman gave me a smile making me feel terrible. Few minutes after I picked up my passenger and head to JFK airport. We all know the police officers keep a friendly relationship with hotels, donut shops and grocery stores of their area to get free meal and use their restrooms.
Police officers abuse their power every day on TLC drivers and there is no one to help us.
